school is speeding as we have less than a month to go before the examination so it is not surprise to notice the schedule is jam packed with activities. the afternoon and night classes are as usual, now weekend camps and workshops are also organized to roll over. meaning that, none of us actually have day off until this big thing ends. having experience teaching the same weakest class for the third year definitely helps. there are hiccups here and there of course, yet we manage to do certain things that work to achieve our aims; to pass the paper. when I first meeting them early this year, very few of them know how to write simple sentences. we wouldn't go to past tense and etc, I bet you know it already.
yet, I decided to give it a try. although there is no other way than to drill, we began with simple words and allow them to experience it. what I believe make the biggest difference is the bonding we developed along the way. we get so attached to each other (not all, but most of them) and I make them believe that we can actually make it work. of course, I do have grey days when I canned them for not finishing their homework, or threw their bags from the the third floor and asked them to write at the corridor but they know they can still crack jokes and we laughed at them together.
today, with few more days left before september, i'm still unable to get all pass for english. I'm not going to stress out because it's really their choice. although it is impossible to change few of them but I secretly still hoping that those few will least try, because deep down here as their teacher, I know they can if they want it. despite that, I'm so proud to see majority of them without asking do the activities when it is my time. few of them shine brightly, but many of them do enough to make me so happy with their effort.
it is true that doing this work may sound easy to certain people, but believe me, it requires highest level of patience in you or else you'll simply giving up in the middle of the way. kids, I may not tell you directly, but hey, this teacher here appreciates your hard work and hope the best for all of you!
